Project objective

The aim of the project is to develop and implement a prototype information system to support maintenance decision-making. Artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms will be an integral part of the system. Their application will allow to achieve process innovation, leading to optimization of the frequency of repairs and inspections of infrastructure elements based on current indications of the system. The system, based on monitored infrastructure parameters and external data, will be able to estimate the condition of each piece of equipment and make recommendations on the best possible maintenance actions. By monitoring the current state of equipment, maintenance decisions will be made on the basis of real infrastructure consumption. The innovation opens up many new possibilities compared to the standard management model, based on cyclic inspections or sudden interventions when sudden equipment damage occurs. The implementation of the system will enable the detection of probable failures, so that preventive maintenance can be carried out before equipment failure occurs. Reducing the number of failures will have a positive impact on the quality of services provided by PGE Energetyka Kolejowa S.A. to external entities. In addition, the material intensity and thus the cost of maintenance processes will decrease.

The project is co-financed by the European Union with funds from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Program Intelligent Development 2014-2020. The project is implemented under the competition of the National Center for Research and Development: no. 2 of the sector program "PBSE".
