A 24/7 crisis staff, reinforced dispatching and maintenance services, additional staff on duty, security and stress-testing of systems - these are just some of the measures taken by the manager of the distribution infrastructure supplying the Polish railroad. The priorities are to ensure the continuity of energy supplies and the safe passage of humanitarian trains carrying wounded and refugees from Ukraine.
Since Friday, PKP Energetyka has had a Crisis Staff, which manages all streams of activities - from employee motivation to CRP protection. The company has already held a review of technical resources both in the field and IT and OT systems. Staffing of network trains and dispatching teams has been strengthened, and additional on-call duties have been introduced. At railroad sidings and ambulance bases, dedicated vehicles are 24/7 in full readiness to handle any passenger or freight transport. Special emphasis is placed on the eastern provinces, near the border with Ukraine, where all facilities operate in a state of heightened security. Special surveillance and additional monitoring have been implemented there, with the possibility of expanding to the entire country. Additional funds and resources have also been transferred to ensure continuity of supply and strengthen inventory.
There is full readiness of all employees in the company to fulfill critical infrastructure tasks. Employees are helping refugees, and the company is taking measures to support their efforts. "On Monday I was in the Lubelskie and Podkarpackie provinces. I met with our crews and brigades, which operate a few - a dozen kilometers from the border and often cooperate with border services and their Ukrainian counterparts. Everyone is aware that the current situation is a time of increased responsibility for us - employees of a company that takes care of the continuity of critical infrastructure. Most employees have taken it upon themselves to help refugees by welcoming them into their homes or organizing other forms of support. As of today, as a company, we are providing additional assistance, and we have further actions planned, including the preparation of jobs for citizens from Ukraine." - Wojciech Orzech, CEO of PKP Energetyka, said.
Representatives of PKP Energetyka are active in several crisis staffs set up by Polish services for the situation across the eastern border, including the staff of the railroad infrastructure manager PKP PLK, the RCB operations team and PTPiREE. They are also in constant contact with the police, border guards and other Distribution System Operators.
