PKP Energetyka has been awarded a silver EcoVadis medal for its sustainable development activities. For the first time, the company participated in a survey conducted by the international agency to rate businesses worldwide on responsible business practices, sustainable development and transparency of supply chain.
The sustainability study carried out on PKP Energetyka placed the company in the 89th percentile. This means that the company's activities were rated better than 89% of entities also assessed by EcoVadis worldwide.
As part of the certification process, each company is rated on a scale of 0 to 100 in four different areas: environment (including water and energy consumption, pollution generation, biodiversity), social activities (employee training, occupational health and safety, dialogue, attention to diversity), ethics (anti-corruption practices, responsible information management, cybersecurity) and supply chain (supervision of social and environmental issues of suppliers).
“This year was our first time participating in the EcoVadis survey, and our activities were recognised right off the bat with a silver medal. This is a reason for the whole team to be proud and a confirmation that we are heading in the right direction. PKP Energetyka's sustainable development and corporate business responsibility activities are also the result of cooperation with the CVC Capital Partners Fund, whose best practices we draw upon. We are highly motivated to effect change and are certain that next year, we’ll make great efforts to achieve an even better result,” said Beata Górniak, member of the Management Board of PKP Energetyka.
The survey process not only assesses the company's current policies, but presents an opportunity for discussion with EcoVadis experts. The cooperation involved a series of meetings in which the leaders of individual divisions of PKP Energetyka were given recommendations for conducting business in an even more sustainable manner.
