03.03.2022, 3min read

First of all, strengthening grassroots initiatives and support for employed Ukrainian citizens. In addition - facilitated admission to work, fundraising and additional places to live. These are the first initiatives taken by PKP Energetyka in favor of those affected by the war.

PKP Energetyka operates throughout Poland, including in the eastern territories. Its employees have taken relief measures since the first days of the conflict. These initiatives were immediately supported by the company. As part of the Good Energy Foundation, the company is donating money to provide regular, long-term assistance to the refugees it receives. "We decided to support these grassroots efforts first and foremost, because it is the employees themselves who know best where and what help is needed. Starting March 2, we have been accepting applications to provide funds to all employees who have decided to provide shelter for refugees from across the eastern border under their roof - PLN 700. at one time for each person admitted, and PLN 300. per week to support ongoing maintenance" - says Beata Górniak, member of PKP Energetyka's board of directors and president of the Foundation.

The company will also launch a hotline with psychological support for all employees, including Ukrainian citizens, who already receive special attention and assistance. Work is underway to facilitate job applicants - a website with current offers and conditions is being translated. Dedicated places in the internship and apprenticeship program are being prepared.

PKP Energetyka has also prepared its own accommodations for the needy and their families - fully equipped apartments and rooms in Zakopane and Ustron, among other places. The "Good Energy" Foundation is also in the process of collecting money for additional assistance. PKP Energetyka estimates that it will allocate more than PLN 2 million for various forms of assistance in the first month alone.

The company has also joined initiatives undertaken by other institutions, including a special edition of the Railway Transport Authority's "Railway Drop of Blood" campaign."We are also in constant contact with our partner organizations, min. PKP Group Foundation and the UN Global Compact. Together we determine what other actions can be taken, to help effectively and in the long term. We will certainly want to extend support to Ukrainian railwaymen and their families as part of the 'railwaymen to railwaymen' campaign," adds Beata Górniak.
