PKP Energetyka's Supervisory Board has appointed Beata Górniak and Marek Kleszczewski to serve as members of the PKP Energetyka Group's Management Board. At the same time, due to new professional challenges, Konrad Tyrajski, who had served as a member of the Group's Management Board since 2015, left the company. The Management Board has been operating in its new composition since February 1, 2020.
"Over the past several years, both Beata and Marek have worked intensively for the development of the company with responsibility for key areas of its operations. They have extensive experience and a passion for effective leaders. I am delighted that they are joining the board." - says Wojciech Orzech, president of PKP Energetyka.
Beata Górniak She will combine her new role with her current position - Director of the Human Resources Department. She has worked at PKP Energetyka since 2017. She successfully led the transformation of HR processes at the company, which now employs nearly 5,000 employees. As a result of her team's efforts, the company was awarded the prestigious international Top Employer certificate in 2019 and 2020. Previously, she managed HR and HR departments at companies such as Tauron, Vattenfall, Saint Gobain and Tesco. She is an expert in change management processes and building employee relations. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Silesia, she also completed the Advanced Management Program at ICAN Institute.
I am proud that during the transformation our organization has undergone, we have strengthened employees' autonomy and sense of influence over the company. We see this in the engagement rate, which has increased from 46% in 2017 to 65% in 2019. Now further development and further challenges lie ahead for the company. One of them is certainly to close the generation gap we face in the rail industry. We are working to improve safety, strengthen ethical standards, and invest in employee development and competence all the time. Joining the board is a clear signal and confirmation that employees and their role are crucial to the company's operations," says Beata Górniak.
Marek Kleszczewski At the same time as serving as a member of the Board of Directors, he will assume the position of Director of the Distribution Division, the company's key business area. Among other things, he will be responsible for the continuation of the mega-project Modernization of Power Systems of the Railway Overhead Contact Line (MUZa), the introduction of innovative solutions in the distribution area, including the development of the Intelligent Integrated Energy Management System for Railways. For the past two years, as director of the Services Division, he was responsible for, among other things, the overhead line maintenance area. The result of his team's activities is a four-year maintenance contract signed last year with PKP PLK. Previously, he served as vice president of Tauron Dystrybucja and member of Vattenfall's management board, among other positions. He is a graduate in automation from the Silesian University of Technology and holds an MBA from the University of Business Lancashire.
More than three years ago, when I joined the PKP Energetyka team at the beginning of the company's transformation, we knew that the rail power industry had to change in order to face the challenges posed by the market today. The coming years will see us working on the ecosystem of powering the railroad from Renewable Energy Sources. We have the infrastructure, technical and digital base prepared, as well as the support of the rail industry. This is a difficult and ambitious task, so I am glad that in my new role I will be able to support its implementation even more effectively," says Marek Kleszczewski.
